About 4-H Why 4-H

4-H is a hands-on educational program for young people ages 5 to 19. Members choose projects, set goals and see them through, building leadership, communication, responsibility and decision-making skills along the way.

For more than a century, 4-H has helped New Mexico youth learn by doing. Through NM State University's Cooperative Extension Service, young people in every county explore projects they care about, from raising livestock to building robots, and grow into confident, capable leaders with caring adult volunteers beside them.

Club Enrollment

A 4-H club is a group of at least five youth, led by their parents or other adults, who typically meet monthly. These meetings give youth opportunities to share their project work, plan community service activities, and practice running meetings.

A 4-H member is:

Novice: 9 to 11 years (or 8 years old in the 3rd grade)
Junior: 12 to 13 years
Senior: 14 to 19 years

A Cloverbud is:

Age 5 - 8 (including Kindergarten through 2nd grade)

Enrollment is required for youth and their adult leaders, and must be done online by each parent using our online enrollment site. After information is completed for each youth and for each adult leader, a combined liability release form needs to be submitted. This form is available within the enrollment system and can be signed electronically.

Adult Volunteer - Working With Minors Training Access Instructions
All 4-H Volunteers are required to complete the training, 4-H Working With Minors, each year prior to working with youth. Annual training renewal will begin each October 1st when enrollments begin. All 4-H Volunteers must have successfully completed training to be eligible to register for any 4-H event. Use attached instructions to access and complete the online training option.

Volunteers, there is a $5.00 processing fee, NO cash! Please make your check or money order payable to Rio Arriba County 4-H Council.

To be completed by Club Organizational Leaders annually and submitted to the Rio Arriba CES Office.

Rio Arriba County 4-H Fundraiser, Sponsorship, & Activity Request Form
Clubs are required to submit a 4-H Fundraiser, Sponsorship, & Activity Request at least Two (2) weeks prior to event.
